A Grand Piano, A Not So Grand Diet and some Grand Houmous

I love when something simple makes me laugh out loud. The other day my baby, okay she's nearly twenty one, gave me a present of a Grand Piano. A purple grand piano. And I love it! Not because I have any ideas of replacing Liberace (oh dear, do any of you actually remember Liberace? Only me? Moving on....) I can't even play the piano, particularly this one, since the photo depicts a pound coin beside it showing it's true scale. (Scale. Get it?)
Being a stationery obsessive, she saw this and thought it had my name all over it. When I open the top, it's got a pen and a place for paper clips! (Do I sound irrationally excited?) And the far right hand notes, when you press them makes it spit out a piece of paper - like a 'post it' without the sticky bit and it's got musical line thingys on it. Love it! (Now even I think I'm sounding slightly deranged)

It's been a great distraction from the edit. If I get a little bored, I press the piano, it spits out paper, then I pile them up, put them back and start again. Then I worry if I find the edit boring, surely my readers may be forced to skim read here and there? Arrrgh!

And note to self for future edits. Do not start a diet at the same time. Editing requires brain process, which requires fuel which is why I've just had a plateful of toasted pitta bread and houmous convincing myself that the grand spread is full of good fat. It's 16:50. Only a couple of hours before dinner. I will spend those hours convincing myself that I'll have a bowl of muesli for dinner but when I'm cooking smoked cod, new potatoes and veg for hubby's dinner, it seems unlikely.

Off back to the manuscript now. Have a new idea for one of my characters which involves licking a plate clean. She IS only four......

OMG, Fi, I so want one of those pianos! Where did daughter get it from and can she suggest my 15 y/o gets me one too?!
My 'Feckitt Diet' is going great guns - haven't been hungry and haven't felt naughty since I started it - funny that!

Who comes up with these wonderful gadgets? I'll bet it's someone procrastinating over an edit....

I want one. Surely all that pressing and piling up counts as exercise?

And yes I remember Liberace, but don't tell anyone please :o)

Hi Helen, good to see you here. You will see I am the Queen of procrastination devices.....!

Karen! You remember Liberace! Oh Thank God. I was beginning to worry he may have been a figment of the camp part of my imagination.

Suzanne, I knew he was real that Liberace guy. Now...er....Bobby Crush??

TF! Great to see you back in blogland. Hope you meant Liberace wouln't 'approve' rather than 'improve'. He was really rather good already?! Chocolate and cakes and biscuits? I'm supposed to be on a diet and I'm here on a Sunday salivating over the word chocolate...Sad eh?
