The X Factor : "An unknown or indefinable element. Often used in the entertainment industry to separate successful entertainers from less successful entertainers.Getting Extraordinary Results from Ordinary People describes it 'the secret of getting ordinary people X-cited about going the X-tra mile to help their managers achieve X-traordinary results."
Okay. I understand the principle. I even like watching the programme BUT puhleeeeeese stop the formulaic crap attached to the final choices for the live shows. There is always a youngish guy who'll appeal to teen girls (Eoghan last year). There is always a fairly crap duet, this year some manic looking Irish twins. There is always a sob story - someone who's lost someone just as they were about to fill in their application form. Sad as these stories are, they should not be a reason for voting for them on what is supposed to be a 'singing' competition.
I said I would never watch Big Brother again and I didn't. It seems while I was thinking that, the whole nation was too and now BB will only run for one more season. I seriously think that if Simon and his crew insist on treating the viewing audience like idiots - eventually, they, we, will begin to resent it and vote with fingers changing the channel rather than our fingers dialling an overly expensive voting line. X Factor is at risk of becoming Ex Factor if they're not careful.

Couldn't agree more. Although I adore the X Factor, I find the sob stories are a real turn off. And there's definitely a predictabilty about the finalists - and very clever editing and favouritism to encourage viewers to vote for the desired people.
Couldn't agree more, Fi - still gotta love it, though x
The X Factor can XXXX-off in my opinion. Language Timothy! ;-) TFx
I only really watch some of the initial auditions, but as soon as you hear, 'I'm doing this for ??? who died recently' my groan gene kicks in and I switch to something else.
I'm getting into Strictly this year, and enjoying it so far.
I totally agree with you! I don't think anything but their talent should be a factor in the voting process. Present them as entertainers not Tyra's next sob story!
By the way, I came across your blog via the "Little Black Box" and started a blog dedicated to all blogs I come across via the "Little Black Box." Just a way to promote fellow bloggers. Check it out if you'd like. There's also a link to my daily blog, check that one out too!
Happy Blogging!
Hi BBB,
Thanks for dropping by and for the link too. Fx
Well said! I stopped watching BB last year, and prefer Strictly Come Dancing anyway :o)
You've got my vote :-)
Well said, F!! One girl was using the fact she lived in a council house as a sob story - ridiculous!
b.t.w. There's an award for you over at mine! x
Hey girls, nice to see you all still pop by! I was afraid you'd abandoned me *sob* and I can't even sing!
Strictly for me too. All the way:-)
