And kicking and ready to kick ass!
Because something - something wierd has happened. I woke up this morning, musing on the last few days and some trigger somewhere, some strange unknown brain synapse snapped into place. The result is - I have faith! I actually believe that the manuscript I have finally written (okay...re-written) the words 'The End' to is my best work to date and is a commercial viable entity!
Okay. I need to convince an agent of that, but as the lovely Debi pointed out last Saturday night, that won't happen unless I submit - so submit it I shall... Watch this space.
I also believe that Saturday night itself was one of the reasons for my metamorphosis from 'doom and gloom wannabe author', moaning about the state of the publishing industry, to a writer who has faith in her work and believes in dreams coming true. Cally Taylor's launch party for her wonderful book 'Heaven Can Wait' was on Saturday night in London. And it was inspirational - really. Having followed Cally's journey to publication through her blog, I realise it still seemed something distant - was it even real? Meeting her, being part of her first launch, meeting up with fellow bloggers, breathing in the atmosphere was something I won't forget in a hurry. And 11,000 copies to date! The book is on its third print run already! Stuff that dreams are made of...
And blogland is real too! The people I talk to often in blogsville are real breathing people, all as lovely and lively in real life as their blogs imply. I met with the fabulous Karen, who has also been an inspiration and a Godsend at this moment in time. She's just got herself a great agent and about to start the magical journey and I wish her every luck in the world. (Thanks for reading Karen, you also played a part in those synapses snapping into place!)
Tamsyn and Jenny were there, Tam being such a prolific writer and general 'do-er' that my head spins when I realise how much she packs into a day! Jenny, as witty in real life as her blog, Jumbly girl, Queenie, Leigh... It was a veritable 'who's who' of blogsville!
Clodagh popped over from Ireland for the weekend and the launch was a real highlight. (For all you chick lit fans - buy her book!)
All in all, over the last few days I've been to a fun launch, met people whose stories are real and inspiring, had someone I respect read my work and urge me forward and finally woken up believing.
It's taken a while and I hope those synapses are here to stay...

It really was a smashing evening! I had a wonderful time and it was so lovely to meet blogging friends in real life. It all felt a bit magical - and very inspiring.
I'm so glad to hear your synapses are snapping back into place and you're ready to submit for England :o)
Lovely photos (although we look dangerously red-eyed!) and I've bought Clodagh's novel too!
Oh Fi, what a wonderful post!
I'm so excited for you - keep us posted! x
It was SOOOO lovely to meet you. You were all smiley and huggy! Thank you so much for coming.
OMG, how SHINY am I in your photo? I really should have powdered my entire face at some point in the evening!!
So glad you've got your faith back, Fi! It was a truly wonderful inspiring evening, and lovely to meet everyone.

Debs, thanks for dropping by. Hope my excitement is here to stay!
Cally, I think I like being called smiley and huggy! Yes. I do! And dont worry about the shine, its the camera. It made you shiny and everyone else have red eyes. I mean some of the red eye photos make us look like we were drinking. Puh-lease...
Cloadgh, you're welcome!
Michele, great to see you here. Instincts are honed and polished - hopefully the ms is too!
Wasn't it a fabulous night? It was soooo brilliant to finally meet you. Lots of luck with the subbing, I've got it all crossed for you!

It was fab to meet you and I haven't forgotten I owe you a drink :-) I thought you were utterly gorgeous (and I loved your hair). So glad you are going to sub your novel too.
PS Did you find Clodagh's book over here? It's on my shopping list for next time I pop to Amazon.
Hi Jen and Tam,
Welcome! My hair? There's me thinking it looked all curly and orrible and someone thought it was lovely... C's book is we think only on Amazon over here - dont know why or if thats the only case - but do have a little purchase on Amzon when you drop by. Amazon has become like bloody Waterstone for me now - I cant resist the 3 for 2 in there and now Amazon hints at books I should buy with 'Other people who have bought 'x' have also purchased 'y'
Grrr.
Go for it! Have faith.
Glad you had a great time at Cally's do.
