The V Factor

So, when does Dancing on Ice start?

We've had the insect eating, vomiting, slebs in the jungle. We've had X Factor (Good luck Joe but Olly was robbed...) and the end of Strictly is nigh.

This is where I confess to having watched all three programmes. I tried. I try every year not to watch because some intellectual part of me (that has been dormant for a long time) tells me I shouldn't be satisfied with what most people refer to as 'dumbed down' crap (DDC). I should want to watch the Discovery channel and learn something. I should but I don't.

Although I did manage quite easily not to watch Big Brother this year and I have vowed never to watch it again - something I will stick to - the fact is I enjoy quite a lot of the DDC.

Why? Because it's entertaining. Because we see people push themselves and succeed (surely not a bad thing?) Case in point. Ricky Whittle in STC. He's entertaining. He was a potential dancer fourteen weeks ago and now he looks like a professional on the floor. And he's very easy on the eye. Yes siree. Very easy indeed. So why would I watch the History channel?

X Factor is though at risk of being vetoed along with BB next year. Entertaining as it is, I couldn't help feeling as the series progressed that it was more about the judges, than providing a route for new talent. And I found myself yawning. Widely. Yes, I did. It had enough moments to keep me watching but only just. And I turned it off for a few weeks when Simon thought it wise to keep Jedward in what he has always said was a singing competition. Consider yourself warned XF. I may vote with the remote next year.

As for the jungle slebs. I do like a little vomit from an elderly lady best known for her cleaning. I don't like watching Katie Price, so only tuned in when she was leaving. I do love Colin and Justin and think they should become King and Queen of the world. And I'm a little bit in love with Gino.

In short, I've loved the dancing totty, the jungle banter and I'm
looking forward to high jinks on the ice. I'm certain if I were a telly producer person, I could come up with a formula that involved all three in one programme. Whatddya think?

My daughter is addicted to all the reality tv shows except Strictly, which is the only one I really watch. Mind you I have to admit that this year I did get completely caught up in Slebs in the Jungle and loved every moment of it.

I've watched them too - well not so much of the X-Factor, I prefer the reality shows with 'slebs in. I'm now eagerly awaiting Celebrity BB which starts in a couple of weeks!

...ooh, I don't like vomit though - I have to switch over while that's going on!

I must admit, I had to give them all up, except for X Factor, this year, due to lack of time. I wouldn't give up Emmerdale though. That's real too. Isn't it?
