I am back now however. Full of New Year Promise and Christmas calories. Why oh why do we eat and drink so much over Christmas? And why oh why do we care so much suddenly on the first of January?

So the bad news is I now have some weight to lose, but the good news is I have a new incentive. In Spring 2011, I'll be mother of the bride... For those of you who know me, please feel free to agree that this seems ridiculous. I am far too young to have a twenty four year old daughter who got engaged over Christmas. It's true. I AM far too young but hey, this is about them and not me (and I was four when she was conceived...)
My baby is marrying a man she adores and who adores her. He's a kind, steady guy who I can't imagine ever hurting her. He has what we parents call 'good prospects' and he did the whole proposal thing so beautifully. I am (we are) thrilled for them both.
That said. I am too young.
And I have no idea where those twenty four years went to. Surely she was sucking her thumb in my arms only yesterday?

Congratulations! I think that's wonderful news! You'll probably be the youngest mother of the bride ever! But truly, weddings and babies are lovely.
Aw bless, Fi - how lovely - and you LOOK far too young to be a MOTB as well - OMG have you decided what you'll wear as a young MOTB - plenty scope for embarrassingly inappropriate garb there!
Congratulations! To all of you x
Congratulations. What lovely news.
Thanks girls! It's great news - even if I do feel like I'm talking about me in the third person!
Congratulations! Oh, I love a bit of good news and it all sounds very exciting. Enjoy x
Oh that's lovely. Congratulations!
But yes, you're far too young:-)
WOW!! What a lovely romantic time to propose. He sounds a great guy!
But I agree, you are WAY too young to have a marrying daughter of 24. Congratulations!
