Today...

I have a lot to do and as such, I have a list. Of course I do. It's just the usual boring stuff we all have to do. So far, it has fourteen things on it and tucked in there at number six is: 6. Write a short story.

I'm not convinced this is something I can do, which explains why it comes after clean the kitchen, ironing pile, pack case, Find sony e-reader, and clean the loos. The truth is that I seem to favour the idea of putting my hand down the bog with bleach, rather than risk myself in an unfamiliar genre. Because of course just writing a short story isn't good enough. I want to write a brilliant short story, a well written taut, honed and polished one.

I've amended the list and it looks a little longer now since number six reads:
6. Stop arsing around and go and write a well written taut and honed polished short story.

So, I'm cutting this post short now. My words are valuable you see. They will be starring in a short story any moment now, my valuable words and me (I??)

God... I'll just put the kettle on first.

LOL. I was going to do this too - and now have precisely 48 hours left to enter it - am pants with organisation.

I find writing short stories so difficult. Hope you managed to get yours written, or are you still drinking tea?

I hope you've done it now. I'm confident it will be honed, taut, brilliant and polished even if you're not! (Confident that is, not honed, polished etc.)

So are you still wandering about, clutching that cuppa? Or do you have a short but perfectly formed collection of words to tell us about? I do hope so...
